Whitehouse Two and Whitehouse Three
Location: Bearsden, Glasgow
Year: 2000
The new houses sit on either side of a Art Deco house which had been inspired by the 1936 Wisenhoff Exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany.
The approach to the houses is from the north with fine elevated view towards Kilmardinny loch. The grounds of each house is generously screened from its neighbours.
The 4000ft2 houses each have two storey wings between smaller recessed centre sections which invite visitors towards the entrance, create dramatic double height entrance halls and living rooms and provide sheltered external spaces facing south.
The houses are built in superb natural materials including copper roofs and with vast corner windows which maximise the light entering each space.
